Cowboy boot cake! I actually remembered to take a few pictures as I worked on this cake. Unfortunately, I missed a few steps, but still I thought you would enjoy seeing at least some of the process. So it’s not really a full tutorial, just a few tips & steps. This cake is challenging in several ways: –The heel is elevated with space between it & the forefoot, so the cake must be suspended at least partially in air. –The toe of a real boot curves up off the floor –The boot shaft is so tall, skinny & top-heavy, & … Continue reading Creating a Cowboy Boot Cake
Five Weddings in 3 days! And each was unique in its design. First, we have this romantic peach confection in ruffles, lace & floral print. This was for a small wedding in a gorgeous estate on Lake Travis. The setting was amazing. All 3 tiers were Vanilla Ice Ice Baby cake with a ‘cherry cheesecake’ filling, special request from the bride. Which is EVIL! I’ve been sneaking the leftovers almost every night since. Seriously, one of the best fillings we’ve ever made. This one’s going on the menu permanently! The top tier is wrapped in wafer paper printed on my … Continue reading Busy Wedding Cake Weekend!
This was the setting for a truly storybook wedding at the gorgeous One World Theater on Bee Caves Rd . I was so honored to be asked to create the wedding cake for this amazing wedding & venue. The bride was so easygoing & liked EVERYTHING I showed her, so we had to narrow down the styles she liked & then blend them into a harmonious whole. The colors of the wedding were peach & turquoise, with natural greens brought in from the succulents heavily interspersed in the decor. So we settled on a cake with a touch of the … Continue reading Gorgeous Wedding at One World Theater in Austin, TX

But it’s even more so now, … Continue reading Crazy Fun Wedding Cake

There are over 400 individually cut & placed wafer paper pieces on … Continue reading All-White Wedding Cake in Cutting Edge Textures
Calling all Wizards, Mudbloods, & Muggles! I have been wanting to make a Sorting Hat cake for a long time. I think he’s so funny! I was booked to my eyeballs this weekend, but I took on this short notice request purely because it was the first opportunity I’d had & I wanted to make him more than I wanted to sleep. Ha! I created him out of dark chocolate cake with white chocolate buttercream filling, & blended up all the scraps I trimmed off into cake pop dough. I used the cake pop dough to create the top … Continue reading Harry Potter Sorting Hat Cake
