Busy Wedding Cake Weekend!

Five Weddings in 3 days! And each was unique in its design.

First, we have this romantic peach confection in ruffles, lace & floral print. This was for a small wedding in a gorgeous estate on Lake Travis. The setting was amazing. All 3 tiers were Vanilla Ice Ice Baby cake with a ‘cherry cheesecake’ filling, special request from the bride. Which is EVIL! I’ve been sneaking the leftovers almost every night since. Seriously, one of the best fillings we’ve ever made. This one’s going on the menu permanently!

The top tier is wrapped in wafer paper printed on my edible printer from a swatch of antique Victorian wallpaper I found online. The middle tier is handpainted watercolor effect in peaches & shiny metallic copper, overlaid by a beautiful edible cake lace. And the bottom tier is ombre fondant ruffles. Fresh roses complete this romantic beauty.

The second wedding was at Vintage Villas, also on Lake Travis, with spectacular sweeping views up the lake, & one of my favorite venues. This one featured a simple rustic ribbon buttercream cake with sugar anemones, made with navy blue centers to match the wedding decor. This cake was all in my ‘Strawberry Lemonade’ flavor which is Disco Lemonade cake with Strawberry Fields Forever filling. One of, if not THE most, popular flavor combinations we have.

It’s SO much easier for me to place sugar flowers on a cake than real ones! I can bend them however they look best & adjust each petal individually. I love sugar flowers so much!

The next day we had two in Dripping Springs, the Wedding Capital of Texas. The first was at Ma Maison, one of the most elegant venues in the Hill Country. The bride needed a gluten free cake so we provided a separate cake for her, but I’m sure many of the guests also appreciated having that option!

The main cake was a lovely 2 1/2 tier, with shimmering cake lace on the bottom tier, of Australian Chocolate Mud cake & alternating Almond Amaretto & Raspberry filling. The 1/2 tier with its lovely rose gold coppery metallic bow & ribbon was Almond Amaretto cake & filling. The top tier of lovely pearls & sugar anemones was strawberry with alternating layers of white chocolate & strawberry buttercream.

The lovely gluten free cake was a dark chocolate cake with alternating layers of almond amaretto & raspberry fillings & white chocolate rosette icing garnished with beautiful fresh fruit. The cake itself was also vegan, but the icing was decadent real buttercream.

The second Sunday wedding was a rustic chic affair at the beautiful Vista West Ranch that featured a lovely naked wedding cake & my most popular men’s cake design as the groom’s cake—a gravity-defying beer bottle pouring into a huge cake mug!

The cake was 2 tiers of Salted Caramel Pound Cake filled with white chocolate buttercream, & two tiers of Vanilla Ice Ice Baby cake, one with chocolate chip cookie dough filling & the other with Oreo filling. The cake was iced in a semi-naked fashion with Salted Caramel buttercream & accented with the most beautiful coral roses. Just LOVED those roses!

The groom’s cake was red velvet with almond amaretto filling, & featured a real Shiner Bock bottle pouring sugar glass ‘beer’ into the mug, with its sugar glass handle. The Texas A&M seal & Texas flag were the perfect finishing touches!

And finally, a Monday wedding! Be our guest, be our guest—at this fun & precious Beauty & the Beast themed wedding. I loved how subtle the cake was, yet paid perfect homage to a wonderful theme. The cake was raised so it looked like it was floating on a bed of red roses. The gold rose lace had embedded glitter, so in person it was stunning & sparkly, which unfortunately doesn’t get captured well in still pictures. The corset tier is all cake with hand piped scrollwork, & of course the iconic dance scene is silhouetted on the top tier, with more red roses as a topper. So pretty!

The bottom tier was Strawberry Fields Forever cake with Almond Amaretto filling, the corset was all Vanilla Ice Ice Baby cake with white chocolate buttercream filling, & the top tier was Vanilla Ice Ice Baby cake with Raspberry filling.
